Elf on the Shelf

Here is the Elf on the Shelf post from my old blog...(Switching blogs is PaIn, haha)

Oh my... We started our Elf on the Shelf this week, and if you have done this you know the rule.  DO NOT TOUCH THE ELF!  Of course there are always certain students that have to "test" and see what they can get away with... and of course that happened.  HOLY TEARS! The students were crying that a student touched him and he couldn't return home.

So what to do??!!  Well I couldn't take him away from the whole class, so I came up with this poem and made it look like he wrote it out (very small scribbled writing... harder to do than I thought haha)  I figured it would look more realistic if it was written out.... otherwise you could always place him at the computer to make it look like he was typing it.

Either way, here is the poem I wrote (he wrote):

Please stop touching me,
It made me so sad.
I couldn't fly home,
and miss Mom and Dad.

You have all been so good,
so please let me be.
I want to tell Santa
All that I see.

If you don't touch me
My magic can grow.
Then at night...
to the North Pole I'll go!

Sincerely,
(name of your elf)

Hope this helps...ENJOY!

Gift For Parents

Can't believe how adorable these turned out!  I was lucky enough to be awarded a grant for a Green Screen... and we are just having a BLAST with it. We came up with these photos for Christmas presents to parents (covered the face for privacy reasons). Now all the students have to do is decorate their frames to say "Naughty or Nice- 5th Grade 2014-2015"   ENJOY! :)

Winter Wonderland!

Here are some photos of how I transformed the hallway, back when I taught Kindergarten.  How adorable. Sometimes I miss these projects... but,  who says 5th Graders can't do projects anymore?!?! I may need to put them to work! :) ENJOY!

Laughing Therapy

Last year I attended a "New Teacher Training" on laughter and how important it is.  Did you know that children laugh about 120 times a day and adults only 17?!  That was extremely sad to me.  We discussed laughing therapy and came across this video.  I tried this one with the students and it instantly became a favorite.  Looking forward to using it again this year, who wouldn't laugh seeing their students attempt this?! Enjoy! :)

Gifts for Parents

Ever run into trouble deciding what to make parents as a Christmas gift?  I had my students make these ornaments last year. They were asked to look through magazines and choose adjectives that describe their family; they could also add nouns that would make sense to their family.  ENJOY! :)

(I found these ornaments at the $Tree, but of course they were made pretty cheap so they did break easily for some students... something to consider)

First Post

Oh the awkward first post... that post knowing you have no followers, other than yourself, at the moment! I have finally decided on a blog that simply suits me. For a while I had the blog Fabulous in First, until I moved down to Kindergarten.  After a year of Kindergarten I was then offered a position in 5th Grade. With so much moving around I decided I needed a blog that defines who I am as a teacher, and not what grade I am teaching. This way all of my material will fit. :) Looking forward to whats ahead. Enjoy!
